Located on a stone wall where two rivers meet, this renovated traditional house surrounded by trees is a single unit inn. There are no other buildings within sight, so you can enjoy the sound of the river, the sound of birds, and the sense of unity with nature, and the water supply is spring water (water quality inspection has been completed). Depending on the season, there are people who come and go from the river next to the house, playing in the river and aiming to reach Kappa Falls. If the weather is good, you can play in the river, BBQ with the ingredients you bring, You can also enjoy a fire. (Please be careful when handling fire.) When it rains, you can enjoy the ingredients you brought over the charcoal fire in the Irori fireplace in the room, or cook while listening to the sound of the river, as we also provide cooking utensils, a range, and dishes. If you go up the promenade along the river, you will also find Kappa Falls about 150 m away. Please make sure you have food and drinks such as dinner before you check in. We renovated a 160-year-old traditional house in 2023. The total site is 700 tsubo (2300 m ²), and the building is 170 m ², making it very spacious. While it is an 8-minute drive to Kumamoto Castle, it is a cottage where you can relax and unwind away from the hustle and bustle. The garden is full of trees and flowers, including a large camphor tree that has been there for over 160 years, black pines, Japanese maples, and bamboo forests, so you can enjoy the trees and flowers in all seasons. The host lives in the adjacent building, so you can feel at home. Take a big, deep breath and refresh yourself from the heart. ●Here’s what you need to know · There are many mosquitoes and insects because there is a garden with many trees. If you don't like insects, it may be difficult to enjoy. The facility is located in a very quiet residential area. One private holiday home at the foot of Mount Aso.

Main bedroom has 2 beds, a big closet, working space and another Japanese style room has two futons. The kitchen is fully equipped so that you can use it for a long stay without any inconvenience. There is a wood stove in the living room which is available in winter after receiving instructions from the host. The host lives next house, but of course will not disturb you unless guest's requests. Our 花hana is located at the foot of Mt. Aso, so we coexist with the wild animals and rich nature.

We had a wonderful 3-night stay here with our 8-month-old. Everything in the house was new and in great condition, and it was very well stocked with everything we needed. The host was incredibly responsive and made sure we were well settled from the start. The views were absolutely stunning, and the space was perfect for switching off—whether we were relaxing in the sauna, grilling on the BBQ, going for a swim, watching a movie on the projector or reading a book by the window. They had kindly provided a high chair, and we could help ourselves to drinks, which was a lovely touch. It’s a peaceful and beautifully designed getaway—we’d love to return!

Taiji-San is an awesome host! He is super friendly and communicates well in English, and makes us feel at home right away. It’s a traditional Japanese house and we get the experience of living in a traditional Japanese house, sleeping in futons on tatami floor. The futons are very comfortable and I don’t wake up having any back aches. The highlight of the stay has to be the incredible dinner that Taiji-San whipped up for us! It’s a 10-course Kaiseki dinner prepared by Taiji-San himself who is a trained French Chef. The stay also came with traditional Japanese breakfast. Highly recommended. The weather was rainy and cold but we didn’t have to worry as the air-conditioner is able to provide heating. There’s is not much to explore on foot, but it is a really good stay if you drive and plan to explore Aso. Will definitely come back again if we are visiting Aso!

Our homestay at Takachiho has been the best so far! Tomoko is the most thoughtful host we ever met, with her fluent english, she explained to us the traditional japanese culture, history and also recommend us to places only the locals know! Before bed, her kids even performed some cute ninja dance for us! So adorable! Before saying good bye, she even sang us hubby's fav song coz she overheard our alarm ringtone. Haha. Oh nearly forgot to mention, Tomoko family is Wagyu breeder & farmer. So u are free to feed the Wagyu anytime!

Great accommodation locating in the mountain and surrounded with woods. Super comfortable mattress and soft duvett, well furnished room plenty of storages. Bathroom and kitchen are also well equipped with practical facilities. Separated entrance directly access to the property. Can hear the sound of the nature and breath the pure fresh air when doors are open, and get immediately quiet world when closed. Landlord Bill and Akio are very kind, hospitable, and patient. We enjoyed the delicious English breakfast with beautiful Japanese style garden view, heartily prepared by Bill every morning. Feeling even better than home, so 2 days of stay is too short. The rainy Kyushu is already inviting me for the second visit.
