A new reataurant advertising itself as a 'jazz and fine dining' place, just 2 min walking distance from the flat. Interior is very urban, some say luxurious, but unpretentious. Not touristy at all, so it gives out a local vibe :) Not budget friendly.

Arts & Culture

A controversial eclectic personal art collection - the question is are the artefacts on display fakes of the old masters or not. The museum houses ceramics, paintings, sculptures. The neoclassical museum building looks impressive from outside. It is worth visiting if you are spending more time in Zagreb, but probably not on top of the to do list :)

A relatively underrated museum that has more to offer than Mimara. It houses more than 160 000 objects spanning from 4th to 20th century. Great temporary exhibitions (e.g. sixties in Croatia - myth or reality which is now on display.)

The Croatian National Theatre is Zagreb's biggest theatre, opera and ballet house. For foreigners, opera and ballet shows are probably best option, because they are language barrier free. Occasionaly, some other performances are subtitled in English. The repertoire is very rich, including the world classics, national tradition and contemporary works. The building from the outside is also worth seeing.

Drinks & Nightlife

More shabby than chic, this is the local alternative | indie music crowd haven, with a great selection of beers, great music and fair prices. It has a beer garden, which is great in the summer. Take note: Krivi put gets a little too crowded during the weekend (evenings and night), so if you are not a fan of loud places, this is not a place for you :)

Parks & Nature

One of the green hearts of Zagreb, the botanical garden is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the nature while still in the strict city centre. This is a beautiful and peaceful oasis with lots of trees and a small pond. It is lovely in spring with trees in full bloom. Closed November 1. - April 1.

A great spice store in the city centre, where you can find a great selection of teas and spices, as well as mugs, lovely teapots etc. If you are into food and tea, definitely worth visiting!

A vibrant and colourful food market. You can buy all sorts of fruits and vegetables there, as well as meat, dairy products, bread etc. Since you are only 10 min walking distance from it, it would be a pity to miss it.

Another big supermarket, not as close as Lidl, but close enough. It has a bigger selection of Croatian products (unlike Lidl).
