Food Scene

This is a lunch spot where you can get sandwiches that could easily compete in Manhattan. They are quite well known for their selection of cheeses. Bring your wallet, it will set you back.

Great spot for coffee even though you could get breakfast or lunch here as well. If lunch is what you seek, consider the Gunnery Café up the road.

The chef who used to be at GW Tavern took the helm of this lunch/dinner spot and it deserves attention. Feels like a family place, friendly service and a good place to hit after you worked up an appetite hiking trails at nearby Bee Brook.

This is a greasy spoon that we actually like that is complete with booth seating and soda pitchers. If you want a religious pizza experience though, consider The Upper Crust.

A local favorite of ours. Hands down. Great for sit down dinner or take out. Be careful not to park on the chef’s vegetable garden – he grows his own.

Parks & Nature

We recommend a visit here as it is quite beautiful and very close to the house. You could easily ride a bike to the lake and, if you are ambitious, take a leisurely tour around it. (It is approximately 7 miles in circumference.) A drive to the beach works also – we still recommend a scenic drive around it. If you wish to spend some time there, feel free to use our resident beach pass to gain entry into the Washington Town Beach. It is a great place to pack a lunch, relax under the shade of trees, and let the lifeguards keep an eye on the kids while they swim in the lake. If you look kayaking, residents can rent for free as long as you have a driver’s license and the beach pass.
