Essentials

The best laundry in the area is Boundary St Laundrette. David & Natalie Lam do a fantastic job, not only with washing and ironing, but dry cleaning and clothing repairs/ alterations. Also perform a quick turn-around.

Though it is much smaller than Woolworths and Coles, the focus of Harris is on farm fresh Australian produce. The grocery selection is modest, but sizable enough for a neighbourhood store. Harris Farm Markets carry some products that you would find at traditional grocery stores, but also some specialty brands that you may not. They do also have a good meat and seafood section. While I like the product offerings, the prices here can be a bit on the high side. So you might want to do everyday shopping at Woolworths or Coles, but pick up produce and items that are good deals here. Good also for people people who are into organic, hormone free, gluten free and lactose free options.

This is a standard Coles supermarket- with a large selection and variety of goods. If you can’t find what you are after at Woolworths Woolloomooloo, you should find it at Coles. Coles is easy to find (just under the Coca Cola sign on William St). Just be aware that it has a split-level, which is annoying if you are doing a larger shop. Make sure you take a basket/ trolley from upstairs, as there aren't any on the lower level.

This particular Woolworths is the closest grocery store to me. It is what is called a ‘Metro Store’, meaning it’s more like an express store rather than the full-blown supermarket. Even though the location is quite strategic, there is not a very deep range per product, but it definitely has a wide variety of most grocery items. Prices are fairly typical of the area. They seem to focus a lot on prepared meals, packaged foods, items that are quick to grab and usually bought in small quantities. The store has an elevated section with tables and chairs so that people can sit down and enjoy the free Wi-Fi offered. Also, in the middle of the store is a surprisingly good takeaway sushi stand.
