One of only 6 Welsh built castle that remain. This castle was built by the might Llywelyn Fawr ('The Great)') betyween 12010 and 1240. He was born on the forested hill mound looking towards the valley from Tanycastell. Well worth a visit, on the door step. From the roof it has great 360 degree views on clear days.
