The best Vietnamese in the city, by far. It's not in our neighborhood, but if you like Pho, etc, worth the trip. New Orleans has a strong Vietnamese community, so there's some decent eats that come with that, and Lily's is top shelf. Very affordable, too.

Pagoda makes great coffee and has a decent menu of small foods, sandwiches, little pastries. The have a Mango lassi yogurt drink thingy that is pretty damn good. All the seating is outdoor tho, under canopies, so if you're here in the July or August, order ice coffee... Also, Pagoda is located in a little area with cute shops and boutiques, etc. So you can kill an afternoon grabbing some lunch and checking out the surrounding retail.

You have to drive out there, but totally worth it to hike the short trails. You can walk down a boardwalk over the swamp, or walk along some ancient trails to see ancient alligators in the wild. You also may still be able to canoe out there, check with the ranger station on that. Totally worth it.

Otherwise known as The Fly, it's right on the Mississippi and you can chill on the banks with a beer and chicken leg and watch the boats go by. A great way to kill an afternoon. Sunsets are pretty here.
