fantastic views and great food. You can buy Sylvie's homemade jam which is the best. Hike up following my instructions from the glacier des Bossons or in July and August get the chairlift. The chalet is perched beneath the glacier. ( Chemin de la Para is not the location - this is a mountain hut )

Parks & Nature

As soon as the good weather starts this is one of my favorite places. There is a sandy beach or grass and you can swim in the lake. Take a picnic or you can choose from 2 huts that sell food and drink. There are bbq pits for summer evenings but get there early enough to grab one. Great place with kids.

In the summer / spring and autumn you can take the trail at the top of the route des montquarts and walk up to the hut - buvette du glacier and have lunch or a drink underneath the glacier. The owners have made a fascinating trail explaining the evolution of the glacier and the finds within it, including a famous aeroplane crash. July and August there is a chairlift at the top of the road. If you are fit you can continue up to Les pyramides or even la Jonction - a difficult hike not for the faint hearted but amazing views and a unique site of the junction between 2 glaciers.

Arts & Culture

Go and discover the history of Chamonix - a fascinating story of the pioneers of mountaineering. Jérôme ( my husband) is a descendant of Dr Michel Gabriel Paccard - the doctor that made the first ascension of Mont Blanc with Jacques Balmat. Their story is in the museum along with some of Paccard's old notebooks as he was a passionate physician and botanist.
