Traditional Swedish food. You haven't really been in Sweden until you've had Swedish meatballs. Traditional and quiet place. You can normally get a table on a walk in unless is a very busy Saturday night (before Christmas, pay-day...)

Go here if you like good food and an even better party scene. Bar next to the restaurant tends to be quite happening and serve very good cocktails. They have a amazing bar on the roof open during spring/summer/fall.

American pancakes for breakfast. Need I say more? Their oatmeal is actually really nice too if someone does not fancy pancakes. Can be a bit of a wait on weekends.

Great steak. Secret wine bar that's also very nice. It's all red velvet, but I promise they won't break out into a burlesque show at midnight ;) A bit on the pricey end, but worth it if you're really in to steak.

This is the place to go if you want to be sure you get great food and great service. A bit of a warning - it's very bright inside, and a bit noisy. Stockholm icon. Serves mainly seafood and Swedish traditional dishes. Great bars and in the middle of party district if you're not ready to go home after dinner.

Parks & Nature

Beautiful park just a few minutes walking from the flat. Open green areas, lake with jetties a lot of history. Great if you want to walk or run, go for a picknick or just stroll past the Haga Castle where the Crown Princess and her family lives. In the summer there's Theater show in the park, and in winter time you can go skating on the lake (make sure the ice is thick enough before you go out! If you're not sure - don't go.)

Beautiful 10 km walk around the "river" between the north and the south side of Djurgården. The north side is where you have a lot of embassies and the rowing club (stop for coffee in summer!) and the south is more park like. Do stop at Rosendals trädgård if they're open.

Sightseeing

Old town is a must if you're visiting Stockholm for the first time. Get lost in narrow alleyways and stop for a coffee, drink or ice-cream when you get tired of walking. You can't miss the Castle. For a even better experience, sign up for a walking tour. They're normally around 100 sek, and you can get everything from general history tours to nightly ghost walks.

Town hall. Go through to the water front for great views of the south island (Södermalm). No entry fee required for this. From here you can take a ferry to the Drottningholm Castle where the King and Queen lives. Nice boat ride in summer.

Skansen is an outdoor museum, with old building from all over Sweden and native animals. Great for a nice walk, to see Swedish history or just to look at the really quite Elks (Moose in American English). Concerts in summer and events during the holidays.

At Mossebacke they have a basic outdoor bar in the summer time. Amazing view of Stockholm and the inlet. If you'd rather get posh drinks or go indoors, try next door Södra Teatern.
