Unbelievably good sandwiches! Their ingredients were selected by a family from New York who know how to make a good sandwich. Perfect for beach lunches! Also great for eating in the car on the way home from OKI. Tip: call ahead or order online and you won't have to wait in line to pick up. The wait can be lengthy on busy days.

The Battleship is a great way to spend a few hours! You can tour it on rainy days but I recommend wearing closed shoes if you do (think slippery metal stairs and small puddles but nothing treacherous). More details are available at: www.battleshipnc.com

Entertainment & Activities

The Fort Fisher Aquarium offers the chance to see ocean life up close! Our favorites are the touch tanks, the sea turtles, the jellyfish and Luna, an albino alligator (there's less than 50 albino alligators in the world). Actually, our most favorite thing might be the ferry ride required to get there! This is a great rainy day activity but I recommend catching a morning ferry to beat the crowds. The ferry you'll need to ride is the Southport to Fort Fisher route. More information is available at: Aquarium: www.ncaquariums.com/fort-fisher Ferry Schedule: www.ncdot.gov/download/transit/ferry/ferryschedule.pdf
