The cathedral of Basel built in between 1019 and 1500 in a romanic and gothic style is one of the citys main attraction. You can climb up the Tower during opening hours to get a magnificent view of the city. The square in front of it is lined with wonderful old buildings and museums, you will also find Switzerlands second oldest grammar school a little hidden between the houses. Tramlines 6/8 to *Barfüsserplatz* and walk uphill from there.
