Sightseeing

John Carlyle was one of the original cartel that founded Alexandria City. The cartel included John Ramsey whose home is now Alexandria's visitors center. The Carlyle house has a fascinating history and the docent led tours give great insight into 18th century life in Virginia.

See the largest collection of Faberge items outside of Russia. There are beautiful grounds and gardens and a nice cafe for lunch. Check it out on line for hours and special exhibits.

Mt Vernon is a must see when visiting Alexandria. Interpreters transport you to the 18th century . Even if George Washington hadn't been the first president his home and farm are a wonderful window into the past.
