Drinks & Nightlife

Nice place to grab a beer. All tap beers are brewed at the place. Thomas recommends their taste tray, with small glasses of eight different beer sorts, sorted from least to most strong taste (160-200 NOK).

Food Scene

Charming Thai restaurant with great food. If you've ever been to Thailand, this is the closest you get the same kind of atmosphere. Use plastic chopsticks, help yourself with water, and order at the bamboo counter. Eat there or bring take away back to the apartment. Main courses around 170 NOK.

The cafe Mormors Stue literally means Grandmother's Livingroom, and that pretty much sums up the interiors. At daytime it is a nice place for a coffee, pastries or lunch. In the evening, food serving closes and students tend to hang out there for a beer.

Getting Around

Trondheim's only tram line, Gråkallbanen. Make sure you sit on the left hand side to get the best view of Trondheim while the tram takes you up the hillside of Byåsen. Lian is the end stop, where you can piknik and go swimming in Lianvatnet, or have a bite at the Lian restaurant. It is also a great starting point for hiking in summer times and cross country skiing in winter. See https://www.atb.no/en/tram/ for timetables.

Sightseeing

Visiting Trondheim without going to the cathedral is like visiting Paris without climbing the Eiffel Tower. It is quite touristy and expensive, but for most people a must-do. And you can choose to admire it from the outside for free. If you go inside, I recommend to pay the extra 50 NOK to go up to the tower, with a great view of Trondheim.
