The Duvel serves fantastic lunches and diners. My favorite lunch is a Club sandwich with Makarel on cornbread. It comes with a delicious spicy dressing and potato chips at the side. Also a recommendation is the smoked salmon and the spicy chicken. Their burgers are also fabulous. Try their fresh mint tea with honey :) If you are going for dinner you can make reservations or I can call them for you :)

Sightseeing

Begijnhof is located at Het Spui, near Kalverstraat and Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal. It's only open until 5 p.m. There is free entrance. Once you enter the door you see a quiet small village built in the Middle Ages in busy Amsterdam. Isolated from the busy streets. It has it's two private Chapels and the oldest wooden house of Amsterdam which was built in 1528. Men are not allowed to live there. Begijntjes, who originally lived there, were similar to nuns. Nowadays 105 single women are living there.

Volendam is absolutely a great fishermans village where you can stroll around half a day. You can eat the most delicious fresh fish in the restaurants at the harbour and have your picture taken in a Dutch traditional Costume with clogs in different backgrounds at a photostudio. There are several so pick the one with the nicest backgrounds. Very funny. Volendam has traditional houses and you can walk on the "dike" which keeps the water from flowing into the houses. There is also a windmill a littlebit outside the village. Many Dutch singers are from Volendam :) Bus 316 from Central Station about 30 minutes.
