The Cabo Carvoeiro (Cape Carvoeiro) lies on the Atlantic coast, along the westernmost point of the Peniche peninsula. Owing to historical storms and shipwreck, a 25 metres (82 ft) high lighthouse was constructed on the promontory to assist maritime shipping.
It is situated on the cliffs between the Peniche Fortress and the Cape Carvoeiro. Furninha Cave was of enormous importance as a landmark, on its western extremity. Here you can enjoy excellent views and sunsets.
