Aaron’s Guidebook for Gulfport

Aaron’s Guidebook for Gulfport

City/town information

Gulfport is the second-largest city in Mississippi after Jackson (the State capital). I feel like this town is mainly a retirement area. There are nice beaches here, but the water is murky due to the islands off the coast, blocking the ocean water from replacing the fresh water that lingers on the beach. It rains a lot during the summer, so be prepared to step in many puddles of water.

Sightseeing

You can pay for a boat trip to a coastal barrier island. You may see dolphins. It's a little bit of a "cruise", and if you're staying in town for a couple of days, you may enjoy it if it's not blazing hot outside. You should be able to buy snacks on the boat as well.

Customs and culture

People are extremely friendly here

Please don't get weirded out by how open and close people are here. I was new to the South, so I was taken aback by it, but people are super kind and talkative here.
