Day Trips from Melbourne

A magical road trip. The views at every turn are breathtaking, and then you come to the 12 Apostles. Easier to do as a day trip on an organised tour or with self drive, its a good idea to overnight at Apollo Bay.

The largest colony of fairy penguins in the world. Magical to see them come home at dusk. Easier to book on a guided tour, rather than drive back to Melbourne in the night. It can get cold - so take warm clothing, and ideally a flask of something hot to drink

One of my all time favourites in the Yarra Valley. Good to go to for a special occasion or just for a glass of bubbly and some strawberries.

T'Gallant has to be one of my favourite places to stop off in the Mornington Peninsula, after a morning of looking around artist galleries. Love their wines, and it pairs well with the woodfired pizzas on offer. The strawberry farm across the road is great for strawberry picking, if you have the energy, or maybe settle for an ice cream or strawberries and cream

Another great option in the Mornington Peninsula. A day spent at the hot springs with a book. Bliss. A great winter option. They have great specials mid week and if you can get there early.

A must see for first time visitors to Australia and Victoria and an enjoyable day trip to Ballarat. Gives you an insight into the gold rush that was the start of the golden era in Victoria.

A royal old lady, the largest wet market in the southern hemisphere, and well worth the visit. On a Sunday, there are some great shopping bargains and music, but also great to explore the Deli hall and the Food Hall, grab some treats and listen to the music. The night markets add a new spin, to eating out, when they are on
