Not to be missed! An hour or so's drive from here (or a one hour train journey, plus Coast Hopper bus time) and you will be seeing a plethora of the plump, furry sea and land dwellers from a boat! Book in advance - and then be mesmerised by their sweet otherworldliness...

Not far from here, and a reasonable entrance fee. A very soothing place - with beautifully chosen, complementary flower selections. The trickle and gurgle of water is soothing, whilst there are plenty of cool resting spots. Never fails to lift the spirits!

Food Scene

A lovely street full of independent shops, cafes, pubs and the Art Centre. Gigs here are usually really good and there's a nice bar.Atmosphere is special.
There are lots of lovely cafes, restaurants and pubs, along with independent shops. Very characterful. You can amble along and dip into Soundclash (with the lovely Paul), or the family- run Raphael's jewellery shop, where they have eminently affordable earrings. The Bicycle Shop has gorgeous decor and original tasty food and food in nearby Haggle is to die for! The Plough has a great beer garden and very nice friendly staff! I also love the Art shop - with its fantastic supplies and good selection of How to art books. There is something for everyone along here.

The Forum is brilliant. You'll fall in love with it. I have only just started using the library again after Lockdown. Interestingly, this library is said to have the most books taken out of any library in Britain! It is spacious and extremely well stocked. In the foyer there are frequent exhibitions. There's also a good cafe where you can sit and watch the world go by through the glass frontage... Love it there.

The cathedral is gorgeous and relaxing. After all the years I've lived in Norwich, I still like to wander around and look at everything. What will you make of the modern stained windows? Can you see all the carvings on the ceiling? I still marvel at the ability of medieval people to have designed and created such wonders. There's also a fabulous glass cafe with nice scenery and a decent selection of cakes and meals you may enjoy exploring whilst there.

Jarrolds is by far my favourite shop in Norwich. I can't tell you how much I adore it! Downstairs it has loads of perfume and makeup counters with a fab selection of brands (the Jo Malone perfume part is great).Upstairs there are gorgeous clothes and shoes, lovely bedding, cushions and furniture, art supplies etc. Down a further set of stairs are crockery and foodie things. A thoughtful selection of items await your delectation - you must discover for yourselves! It has the added advantage of two cafes. Grab a seat by the windows upstairs and a view of Norwich Market. Coffee refills are free!

Cultural

I used to have a family ticket for this museum which was worth every penny. There are interactive historical sections for kids (my two liked going on Boudicca's chariot) and lots of info about all the collections.Check out the cool taxidermi animals and birds of the Broads and Norfolk places. You will love them. They also put on unusual exhibitions, so it's worth looking up what's on. Great cafe here as well. You can visit the dungeon if you want! Loads to do - you'll probably need a whole afternoon.

I've never watched a match in a stadium, but my brother spent a good part of his youth supporting the Canaries here! If you are one of the many Norwich City fans, you might like to avoid crowded roads and trains by staying at this air b and b the night before a match. Makes sense!

The most stunning beach in all of Norfolk. Breathtaking... Superlatives escape you as you contemplate its awesomeness. Indeed, if the Romantics had lived in North Norfolk rather than the Lake District, they would have been exploring the sublimity of the dunes, sea and pine forest in their poems! Enjoy collecting shells and dipping your feet in the cool waters of the Eastern shore.

Totally gorgeous garden. Almost tropical or Mediterranean when the sun is shining. The idyllic pond has Moor hens and ducks floating along it.There are quirky bridges and many benches upon which to sit and happily sigh at the sight of lovely Lowestoft beach, which it overlooks.

It's wonderfully calm and relaxing in the Sainsbury Centre. Admission is free. Well curated exhibitions are frequent. There's a beautiful cafe with views of sculptures - and a lovely selection of snacks and meals. The Sainsbury Centre art collection is wide ranging (there are a number of Francis Bacon paintings) and the shop is always fun to browse in.
