Sightseeing

Of course people visit this to see the beautiful lighthouse, Portland Headlight. But there’s an amazing green space that’s perfect for having a picnic, flying a kite, or throwing a frisbee… Often times, you can find a gelato food truck or a lobster food truck. Stop at the Cookie Jar on the way for a cookie or baked good.

If you get a chance, check this out! It’s a short walk around the island (under 2 miles), and you can see Mayor Baxter’s Pet Cemetery, which was purportedly the inspiration for Stephen King’s infamous novel. (The actual pet cemetery is sweet and peaceful, and not at all creepy. But it’s fun to pose by the sign for a picture.)
