Traveler advice

Getting around

Renting a Bicycle (if you’re an experienced cyclist!)

Cycling is by far the best way to get around in Amsterdam, but make sure you only rent a bike (for example ar Macbike or take a Donkeybike from the street if you are an experienced cyclist. Amsterdam people are really friendly, untill you’re cycling in their way…😅
Getting around

Metro is fastest way into the centre

Take the metro in the direction of central station from Wibautstraat metrostation. You can get off at Waterlooplein and follow the Singel into the canal area or get out at Nieuwmarkt for a gaze of the redlight district.
Getting around

Getting around by foot is easy and perfectly safe.

From our place, follow the Amstel river in the north direction and fron there it takes about 25 minutes to reach the Magere brug and from there enter the canal area.
Don't miss

Swimming in the Amstel in front of our street!

The water is deep, so only get in if you are a good swimmer! We swim here almost every day in summer!
Don't miss

Museumplein, Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum

Great museums, all clustered together at the Museumplein. Easy to get there by tram from the tramstop Amsteldijk on the other side of the nearest bridge over the Amstel (Berlagebrug).
Traveling with kids

Bars/Restaurants with a playground attached to the terrace.

Sometimes you want to combine a drink and some relaxation with (young) kids playing around. A few places that offer this: L’Osteria, Dignita Hoftuin, Vondeltuin, Groot Melkhuis and Frederix. These are also listed in the restaurant list.
