Very beautiful sight, very popular with tourists and locals alike. Catch the sunset if you can, which may although be tricky mid summer when the sun never sets!

An odd shaped building called "Perlan" (which means "The pearl") that currently houses some restaurants and tourist attractions. It's surrounded by a cluster of trees large enough to be considered a forest by Icelandic standards... but it's a nice place to spend an afternoon regardless!

Our local swimming pool. Iceland has a ridiculous amount of nice pools (the capital area has more than 10) so try out as many as you can! Word of warning: Icelanders are accustomed to showering naked before and after, which feels weird to many, but some pools have private showers.

A pretty unique church. One of it's unique properties is that due to it's shape, it barely handles the harsh Icelandic weather, so it's constantly being repaired. Regardless, it's a nice location, surrounded by plenty of good coffee shops and restaurants. I do believe it's possible to take a trip up to the bell tower, but I haven't tried it myself.

Yes, we're stubborn enough to have a beach in Reykjavík. To compensate for the lack of natural warmth, hot water is pumped into the ocean to warm it up a bit! Additionally there are some nice hot tubs and showers there, plus a couple of restaurants.

City/town information

Downtown Reykjavík is only a 10 minute bus ride away (Bus #11 stops practically straight in front of our flat). Most of the city's restaurants, pubs and clubs are conveniently packed in an relatively small area so you'll be able to reach everything on foot once there.

Food scene

A remarkably popular hot dog stand that's been in business for decades. Bill Clinton famously had a hot dog there and then got a heart attack soon after, so consume at your own risk!

Our favorite pizza joint in Reykjavík. I recommend eating in as the pizzas are much better straight out of the oven, but they also do pick-up.

There is a rather strong culture for bakeries in Iceland, and this is definitely the hottest one currently. They make really nice sourdough breads as well as fantastic pastries that are perfect to grab with you on a stroll around the downtown area.
