Bayview

A short walk from the Airbnb, it's a 1920’s speakeasy, jazz restaurant, run by at-risk, formerly incarcerated and foster care youth ages 16-22. They have live music Thu-Saturday and delicious food.

They're open odd hours but hands down have the best and most unique pastries in the city. The "Everything Croissant" is my favorite - a croissant with chive cream cheese filling and coated with everything seasoning.

Great craft beer with lots of room for big groups. They have lots of bar games (ping pong, arcade, shuffle board, etc) and they usually have a food truck outside.

If you find yourself passing through this area, it's worth a pit stop off the highway to snag some starbread fresh out of the oven. "Butter, sugar and love packed into a small roll." You can't buy too many.

Sightseeing

A bike share station 3 mins walk away where you can rent bikes for short trips around the city. The electric ones are fun but the classic ones are the best deal--around $3.50 for trips under 30 minutes. The bikes have a front rack for stashing a small bag.

Traveler advice

What to pack

Always bring layers to San Francisco

A beautiful sunny day can turn foggy and chilly quickly, especially on the wet side of the city
