About a 40 minute drive to the North, this is a bucket list hike that will take 3-5 hours depending on how often you stop for pictures. It's not steep or strenuous but requires a bit of sure-footedness as much of it goes through cold, ankle-deep water. Permits are required in advance ($12 a person) & are limited to 150 people/day. If you can get a reservation it is definitely worth your time! Check their website for details and reservations. www.kanarrafalls.com

One of our favorite stops for a fresh baked treat. They have a wide variety of cookies. The snickerdoodle is a family favorite, but we love to get a mix of the mini frosted cookies as well. Too hard to choose just one!
