Traveler advice

Getting around

Taxi

If you are still in El Centro Historico, you will find out that there is ALWAYS traffic and a lot of people walking around. If you are just commuting inside the Walled City I do recommend just walk, you will get faster. But if you are planning to go to the beach or elsewhere outside taxis are complety safe. TIP. Ask around fair prices to different distances so you have an idea how much cash you will need.

My favorite thing to do in Cartagena is to watch the Sunset and Cafe del Mar has the best view for this, they play music as the sunset goes down. It is such an experience!
What to pack

Bring comfortable clothing and shoes

Everything that you need is inside the Walled City so instead of driving and trying to find parking or just taking a taxi that will take forever to arrive to destination. WALK!! Trust me. comfy sneakers or sandals will help you get around. Also very light clothing because as you know it gets very hot and humid here. Protect yourself from the sun so a good sunscreen, a hat or umbrella will definitely be your best friend.
