This is a very short easy hike / walk is paved most of the way and offers the gorgeous city/ocean view you see in the pic. Located about 5 minutes outside of Waikiki the short hike usually takes less than 45 minutes round trip from the parking lot and back. Regarding photo taking it's better to get there early to mid day rather than late as you will have the sun more behind or on top of you in the morning to early afternoon. I usually combine this hike with the Manoa Falls hike. Can easily knock both of these out the same day before noon.

This is the hike I do the most. Usually once a week sometimes twice. Nature's stair master with an amazing view up top. 1050 stairs straight up. Recently renovated so much easier now. Located about 30 min drive south of Waikiki the hike its self usually takes about an hour round trip from the parking lot. Depending on how much time you spend resting up top of course.

Makapuu Lighthouse Trail is another great hike on the southern part of Oahu. Located about 30 - 40 minutes south of Waikiki this hike is paved the entire way up to the lighthouse. Usually takes me about 1 hour round trip from the parking lot and back. Parking lot fills up here early so get here by 8am or you will likely be parking on the street and walking a ways down. Take plenty of water as it is a bit of a calf burner on the steep parts and there is no shade.

The Makapuu Tidepools hike is for the more adventurous in that it splits off from the lighthouse hike and heads straight down the side of the mountain to some relaxing pools that are popular for snorkeling and swimming. Usually takes me about 2 hours round trip from the parking lot.

The Olomana or Three Peaks hike is one of my favorites. It is not for the beginner though. Make sure you read about this hike before going. Seems someone dies or gets severely injured every year up there. Offering amazing views of the east side of the island this hike usually takes me about 3.5 hours round trip if I go to the 3rd peak. Maybe 2 hours if I only go to the first peak. Parking is tough as you need to find something in the neighborhood and then walk down around the golf course / park entrance.

The Ka'au Crater wateralls trail is another favorite. To me this offers the best view of any hike in Hawaii if you can get to the top of the ridge. This is another fairly dangerous hike marked by a recent death so please be careful and do your research about this hike prior to going. Usually takes me about 4 to 5 hours round trip. My more active friend who just lives for this hike can do it in less than 3.

The Couching Lion Hike is my favorite one on the North Shore. You can make this hike as short or as long as you would like if you choose to continue on the loop trail after you get to the lion up top. The loop takes me about 5 hours, but just going up to the lion and back takes about 1 hour and offers amazing views of the north shore. Please do your research about this one as well as it can also be fairly dangerous.
