Food Scene

This beautiful italian restaurant takes its name from our neighborhood. Try one of their authentic pizzas, prepared by an italian chef in a ceramic, wood-fire oven & pair it with a wonderful cocktail.

I come here because it's incredibly cheap. They serve massive portions of traditional El Salvadorian and Mexican food. People say that they have the best pupusas in Los Angeles. They're only $3 each.

This is a very simple café that feels completely local. On the walls, you will find paintings and photography for sale by neighborhood artists. And, the best part: they roast their own beans in-house.

People say that these are the best pastries in LA. They come from all over town and, on weekends, the line goes out the door onto the sidewalk. Enjoy their tasty sandwiches and highly aromatic coffee.

My. Favorite. Pizza. You can have them deliver to the gate, or call-in and take a short stroll down the boulevard to pick it up. Their specialties are the best. Please, try the Artichoke & Feta pizza.

This closet-sized shop is home to my favorite $3 breakfast burrito in the world, and it's only 115 steps from our gate! Angelenos drive from all over town enjoy this deliciously fresh, cash-only spot.

My favorite place to get a cup of coffee and watch the boulevard. The large, open floor plan and high ceilings truly make the space unique. They also have an extensive, delicious menu and a full bar.

Essentials

I don't come here as often as Kopper Keg, due to the proximity. It's a slightly bigger liquor store with a few more options. Their prices are great, too. If you can't find it next-door, you will here.

Sunday mornings in Atwater are the best. The streets are abundant with families, friends, and the pleasantly mixed aroma of the Farmers' Market. Cross the street for fantastic local options. 10am-2pm.

Drinks & Nightlife

It took me too long to try this place. They have an amazing selection of sausage links (some are vegan!!). Also, they have a premium selection of local draft beers on tap. Make sure you try the fries.

This shop that has a MASSIVE collection of great wines and beers. The best part, though, is the secret cellar. It's lit by dim lights and candles. Enjoy an appetizer and a tasting. Or a glass. Or two.

Who doesn't love a good dive bar? The place feels classically inspired by vintage Los Angeles with its big booths and dim lights. These drinks are strong and cheap. Good thing its only 128 steps away.

One of the more unique bar menus, it's described as Mexican BBQ. Everything on the menu has surprised me in the best way. I recommend pairing your meal with a local craft beer. They have many of them.

Shopping

I stop into this place at least once a day. They have all the necessities, from toiletries to groceries, but also a great selection of wine and beer. Let them know that you're staying at Jeff's place.
