Some of our favorites (and we have high standards)! These are either nearby the AirBNB, or definitely worth a few extra miles.

Some would say you haven't truly experienced Albuquerque until you eat at The Frontier. Across Central Ave from the University, this Albuquerque institution expanded over the years to take over the entire block. At peak times, the line stretches into the back dining room. But the service is fast and the food is always good. You'll always remember the homemade tortillas (buy a dozen to take home) and the famous Frontier cinnamon roll.

Historic Albuquerque and a must see for visitors. Many shops and restaurants. A great place to buy authentic Native American jewelry at an affordable price directly from the artists. Christmas time is truly magical, especially if you are there for the luminarias on Christmas Eve!

This zoo is great for a couple of hours or a full day of animal watching. Bring a picnic lunch and eat near the reflecting pond with the lion roaring nearby. Check-out the website ahead of time for the feeding times for the animals, and you'll be in for a real treat (watching a hippo eat is something you won't forget!). Don't forget the sunscreen and water!
