Sightseeing

By far the most iconic sight in Bergen is the colorful facade of Bryggen, the old Hanseatic Wharf first established in the 14th century. As Bryggen was rebuilt after a fire in 1702, the picturesque wooden structures have become recognized as a vital part of Bergen’s cultural heritage, and also the world’s, as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Wharf houses a small museum, shops, restaurants, and cafés.
