Highly recommendable restaurant. Only open in the evening; a famous TV chef opened a hole in the wall restaurant, 5 courses for 35 euros per person including Prosecco vom Fass (from the barrel - I don't know how they do it; but it's delicious). It would be good to reserve, since you might have to take a taxi/uber or tram there, and it's a small venue.

Just outside the apartment, Plachutta has some of the best classic Austrian dishes. Can't go wrong with their Schnitzel or Tafelspitz. The original Plachutta specializes in Tafelspitz (in Wollzeile 38, 1010 Wien). More expensive than Wickerl or Rebhuhn, but also just a bit better and more refined.

Best bread in the world :). Most nice restaurants source their bread from this bakery in Vienna. Nice brunch. You might have to queue a little because it's very popular. Also difficult to get seats for bigger groups

Probably the best restaurant in the museum area. Nothing too fancy but they have good and varying lunch dishes and do generally yummy Austrian/Balkan homecooking. Has an absolutely stunning ceiling :). I love coming here for lunch in the warmer months and a club mate (if you like mate tea and fizzy drinks)

Excellent creative cocktails, with dry ice and fresh fruit. The owner is a cocktail fanatic and makes the cocktails himself. Quite empty, and usually an older crowd as the cocktails are more expensive (12 eur), and the bar is just across the stock exchange.

Or get off at "Fernsprechamt Heiligenstadt" on the way down with the 38A and walk 6 min. (directions on the "qando" app), to the following Heuriger:
