Highly recommendable restaurant. Only open in the evening; a famous TV chef opened a hole in the wall restaurant, 5 courses for 35 euros per person including Prosecco vom Fass (from the barrel - I don't know how they do it; but it's delicious). It would be good to reserve, since you might have to take a taxi/uber or tram there, and it's a small venue.

(and Belvedere Museum: if you want to see "The Kiss" by Gustav Klimt). The restaurant Salmbraeu is just at the bottom of the palace, and serves excellent beer and pork knuckles "Stelze" for two people for around 17 euro. The food is very heavy though, and really only to be enjoyed with lots of beer. Try to reserve, as it gets very busy in the summer.

Classic Austrian cuisine. Good and cheap. Try the "fiaker gulasch" (the horse-drawn carriage driver's Gulasch soup, with egg, sausage and pickles) or the "Ausgeloestes Backhenderl" (All parts of a chicken removed from the bone, incl. liver, and deep fried in batter and butter)

There is a cold buffet, which has salads and has a large variety of cold dishes like seafood, roast beef etc. in the 2nd floor (one above ground floor) that opens all day, and only costs 13.50 EUR. It's just in front of the apartment and has a really nice atmosphere, so if you're hungry in the afternoon, it's a great option. Also, in the cafe on the ground floor, they serve probably the best hot chocolate I've had. Sometimes, there's an old man playing the piano in the late afternoon/evening. Le CIEL, which is a michelin star French restaurant on the top floor of the hotel has a 3 course lunch for 45 euros, and is very good for the price.

Only in the summer. A romantic little local (hippie) event that is really cute in the summer is the open air cinema (http://kinowienochnie.at/) *movies are mostly in English, but if not, it's shown in the original language with German subtitles. Even if you don't watch a movie, the cafe in front of it is like a realllyyyy romantic secret garden with many colorful little lights. The only downside is, it's a little far (9 min with the purple line U2 from Karlsplatz to Taborstrasse). When there, the cafe entrance is behind the Muth building gate (Vienna Boys' Choir's school) to the Augarten park.
