Birkie Trail is perfect whether you're on foot or on two wheels. The trail beckons people to explore the winding trails, bridges and rolling hills found throughout the system. The trail system is over 60 miles long though Sawyer and Bayfield Counties , yet it is easy to access at any of the well marked trailheads. It is a 100 plus kilometer trail system that attracts skiers, runners, bikers, trekkers, and hikers, from casual day trippers to elite athletes. The world class Nordic ski trail is home to the American Birkebeiner, Northern America's largest cross-country ski race.

A "hands on " area gives visitors young and old a chance to decorate their own pottery or make their own wood sign. Fiery Raku pottery is available in the summer.
