Food Scene

Great for breakfast bagels and you can either sit in the cute Cafe or hang out on the grass or benches in the little Lever Street Park. I especially recommend the salmon and cream cheese bagel!

Not often you can sit in a restaurant and dangle your legs over the seawall and feel the waves splash on your skin. An old favourite. It has a variety of restaurants and bars to suit the different age groups. Well worth a visit, and if you are a solo traveler, a sundowner in the top (quite smokey) bar will get you a lot of new friends.

Great swimming beach.
An article in the Guardian on the best beaches in Cape Town: "Dalebrook is the tidal pool and beach locals keep to themselves. Visitors duck under a little subway under the railway line to access it. Never crowded (most people prefer the sociable St James tidal pool) and sheltered, the Dalebrook tidal pool’s manmade concrete retaining walls allow waves to break over its edge, keeping the water clean and the swimming experience both safe and exciting. There is a changing room on the beach and plenty of golden sand. When to go: In the morning, as the False Bay coast is close to the mountains and loses the sun early. Spend the afternoon exploring the delightful little seaside suburb of Kalk Bay."
