Visit Isak Heartstone, the Breckenridge troll sculpture. Easily walk-able from Main St. or park in the nearby Ice Rink parking lot. If you're traveling with kiddos, there's a small train museum and playground nearby, too.

Ski Resorts

It's a tough choice with so many great ski resorts in the area, but Copper has risen to the top of the list in my opinion! Awesome terrain, huge half-pipe (Shawn White often trains here), and the mountain is naturally separated into beginner, intermediate, and advanced terrain, so there is less "chaos" (if you will) of mixed abilities. For the non-skier/riders, there is snowtubing, snowshoeing, and ice skating. In the summer there is golf, hiking, mountain biking, zip lines, ropes courses, and an alpine coaster. Adventures galore!

Loveland is a bit less expensive (and less swanky) than the other Summit County resorts, but still has great terrain and all the amenities (rentals, lessons, lodge, etc). Fun fact, the ski resort sits on top of the I-70 Eisenhower/Johnston Tunnel!

Amazing terrain, but probably better suited for intermediate or advanced skiers/riders. Usually competes with Loveland Ski Area for the longest ski season (generally Oct - May). For summer activities, check out the new (2021) Via Ferrata guided mountain climbing experience - the highest in North America! All gear included, no prior climbing experience necessary, but this is not for the faint of heart or for those with a fear of heights.

The Vail tagline "like nothing on earth" rings true here. The vast open back bowls, front-side groomers, and Blue Sky basin are just the tip of the iceberg. Expect luxury skiing, dining, and unfortunately crowds, especially on a powder day.

Traveler advice

Don't miss

Beware of the high elevation

Our condo sits at nearly 10,000 feet - that's almost double the elevation of Denver. If you are coming from sea-level, give yourself time to acclimate (at least 24 hours) before rigorous physical activity. Altitude sickness is common and can be severe if not managed. Drink TONS of water (hydration is the best defense) and take it easy when you first arrive. Wal-mart in Frisco and City Market in Dillon (among other retailers) sell Oxygen Boost canisters (no tubes, you inhale pure oxygen through your mouth) that can be helpful, as well.
