Brunch Place

So yummy! But be ready for a wait. It’s so close to the house that we encourage you to send ONE member of your group to get your Name on the list, then everyone else mosey on over. Please be CAREFUL crossing the highway!

Brewery

On main street, decent food (try the cheddar ale soup or the scotch egg), beer is awesome, and you can take it to go to walk Main Street!

Out of town on highway 290 about 5 miles. Please be incredibly careful on the highway turning into this establishment! Great food and great beer! Beautiful facility! We love to sit in the Beer Hall on a Sunday at lunch and enjoy the live music! You should pop into the Tractor Museum on the property, too!

Sightseeing

You may be visiting Fredericksburg just for this museum. The War of the Pacific Museum on Austin Street is actually pretty neat, even for the kids! While these are both mostly indoors, the Nimitz Museum also does occasional live reenactments, outdoors which are great to watch!

If you have never been, you have got to go! You will first need to get online and purchase a day pass to be able to enter the park. Take some water and a picnic and enjoy the amazing hill country views from the top! A little insider secret: there are small craters atop the rock which fill with water. Tiny, endangered shrimp live in these ponds, and actually survive when the ponds go dry! Even though my parents let us splash around in our underwear when we were tots (it was the 80s!), you should really leave these waters alone. But it is pretty cool to sit and observe the life that is there!

Our family enjoys the Pioneer Museum which is on Main Street. A place to check out some original pioneer buildings, and occasionally attend an event. Check out this link for this year’s “little pioneers” schedule. http://www.pioneermuseum.net/little-pioneers.html

Even if you are not attending a concert or dance out there, Luckenbach is still a fun yet relaxing atmosphere to be. Get a Lonestar Lite and sit at a picnic table with a burger and listen to the talented guitarists in the Picker’s Circle. Kids will enjoy the chickens that roost in the trees and roam around, as well as the grassy areas and creek. Don’t forget to grab yourself a “Everybody is Somebody” Luckenbach T-shirt!

A couple of blocks south of Main Street, we find this to be a go to during the week for lunch. The best sandwiches, mouth-watering Coconut Cream Pie, and a shop in the same warehouse with some cool stuff to check out!
