Sightseeing

Avalon Beach is absolutely beautiful with its rugged coastline, deep golden-hued sand and crashing waves. There’s an ocean pool at the southern end of the beach that attracts young families while the adventurous take to the rocky ledges to jump into the deep blue sea. I love walking my boys down every morning to grab a coffee and watch them play in the rock pools whilst I listen to the waves crashing and feel the sunlight hit my face. In the afternoons we would head down for a swim or surf when the waves are smaller and the sun is no longer blazing. We also take the boys around the ‘ yellow brick road’ which is a footpath for walking/scooter/bike ride/rollerblade that wraps around Avalon beach and is children friendly and safe for them to play.

Palm beach is great for children and people learning to surf as the waves are smaller and calmer than Avalon beach. There’s an area at the southern end of the beach that is great for kids aka ‘kiddies corner’. Both my boys are learning how to surf here so we drive down white often and mostly in the wee hours of the morning before it starts to get really Busy.

Surfing lessons

We have surf boards for both adults and children at the house for you to use. If you are new to surfing we strongly recommend you book private lessons with Manly Surf School to learn the basic skills. They also teach at Palm Beach which has smaller waves. Avalon Beach is really for experience surfers so please careful and watch out fir signs of strong current.
