Traveler advice

What to pack

River shoes for wading, creek walking & swimming holes

A good pair of water shoes, old sneakers, closed-toed sandals or other shoes you don’t mind getting soaked can come in handy when visiting area swimming holes.
Don't miss

Our favorite fall drive

In peak autumn you can’t beat our 2-hour round trip loop from Leeds that passes scenic mountains and bubbling brooks against the backdrop of stunning fall foliage. From Leeds head up to Kaaterskill Falls via the Laurel House parking area (a quick walk to the lookout). Then drive through Tannersville, turn left on Route 214 south to Phoenicia and wind through Mt Tremper to downtown Woodstock. Pass through Saugerties then head back north toward Leeds along Route 9w for a scenic return along the river. You will not be disappointed in this stunning loop — the perfect fall day.
