Approx Half an hour south of Hobart is Kettering where you catch the ferry to Bruny. Can do it in a day but overnight preferable so you are not rushed. Bruny has great walks, beaches and a winery, cheesery and chocolate shop.

Maria Island requires a ferry from Triabunna, about an hour up the east coast. If you are doing a day trip you need to leave early to get the first Ferry over, as the last ferry back off the island is at around 4pm
