A historic palace, still inhabited by the (baby-eating!) Bishop of Bath & Wells, surrounded by award-winning gardens, Gothic ruins, and a moat complete with resident swans. There is a cafe in the grounds from which to admire the architecture and, on occasion, the local croquet club battling it out on the Palace lawn

Perhaps the most iconic image of Somerset, Glastonbury Tor is only 5 miles away from The Orangery but provides magical views of the Mendips (and quite a bit of exercise getting up to the top!)

Glastonbury Abbey is shrouded in myth, with the graves of King Arthur and his Guinevere reportedly discovered within its grounds, located on the Isle of Avalon. Destroyed during Henry VIII's Reformation, when its stalwart Abbot refused to give in to the King's demands (and was hung on Glastonbury Tor for his trouble) the Abbey is redolent with history, mystery and beauty
