If you venture to Hendersonville or Asheville, there’s a great little store on the way. Everything from every type of dishware to kitchen and cooking trinkets, as well as thoughtful gifts and home/garden decor. I love to stop in and pick up my favorite peanuts, jams or sauces, and I always come home with something else I just have to have.

Food scene

Located off I-85 about 15 minutes from downtown, this is our favorite high end steakhouse. They pull out all the stops with table side Caesar salad prep and they will even shell your lobster for you. The steak, we think, is the best in Greenville.

Want to try something else? Travelers Rest (TR)

Just a 15-20 minute drive in the opposite direction lands you in TR. Local shops and restaurants located at the end of the Swamp Rabbit trail.
Equal distance from our home as downtown Greenville is another beautiful and quaint city called Travelers Rest or TR. You’ll find several restaurants and shops, and lots of friendly faces. If you want a slower pace and a little of that Mayberry USA feel, we highly recommend you check it out.

Sightseeing

Asheville is just an hour away, Sierra Nevada is something to see and experience even if you aren’t a beer drinker. The food is also great, and the facility is magnificent. It’s not your typical brewery, simply state of the art. Call ahead to arrange free tours.

If it’s not on your bucket list, it should be. Worth the price of entry; much more than just a house tour. Beautiful gardens, walking paths, a winery/tasting and multiple restaurants. We’ve been annual pass members for two years and still haven’t seen/done it all. Anytime is a good time to visit, but especially beautiful at Christmas and seeing the gardens in full bloom.
