Founded in 804 by St. Guilhem and where he was buried in 812. An outstandingly beautiful abbey. Music evenings are often held at the Abbey. There is a cloister garden and a superb little museum.

The Herault River runs right past St. Guilhem. There are many secret places you can find to swim. Waterfalls, rapids, calm waters and steep-sided gorge on both sides. The water is always fresh but it is clear and wonderful to swim in.

Follow the G74 hiking route, climbing to the Hermitage of Notre Dame du Lieu Plaisant and along the Le Cirque de l’Infernet, massive limestone cliffs which form a natural wall along the Valley of Gellone and which rise to 535m (400m above the village). The views from this point are simply spell-binding.
