My first job while in high school was in this hardware store. Ron, the owner, still continues to open the doors 7 days a week. This isn’t just a hardware store, it’s a walk down memory lane.. a must see on one of your outings!

Beautiful Castle Crags, just south of Dunsmuir, offers fabulous hiking and sightseeing trails along creeks and the Sacramento River. Between Castella and Soda Creek on old Hwy 99 you will find the River Trail, accessed on the west side of the river via a crossing under the railroad tracks (think adventure) and over a swinging bridge to lower Castle Crags State Park. Picnic facilities are available and a great walking trail up the river for a couple miles. Spoil alert: more bridge crossings await you.
