This is definitely a day trip worth planning. Anna Maria Island is a barrier island on Florida’s Gulf Coast. The quaint feel of Anna Maria Island makes it the perfect place to eat grouper sandwiches and kayak with dolphins. In the small resort city of Anna Maria, Pine Avenue is lined with shops, galleries and eateries. Brunch at Gulf Drive Cafe on Bradenton Beach is a great start to the day. Hang out at Coquina Beach (bathrooms, changing stalls, concessions). Drive back via Sarasota and stop over at St. Armands Square for shopping, sweet treats, coffee, eateries. Check out the event calendar for local art fairs, market and festivals. Lisa Beach is close to St. Armands Square and a local favorite (often times ticked away from tourist). It is a nice beach to hang out too.
