Ok, if I'm being honest, often I don't have the energy to go into town every night. Especially when I'm at Casa Luna Beach House for a month or so. Banana Azul is where I go for breakfast often, I hang out at their beach club and happily work on my computer or just watch the waves AND I love eating there for dinner. They are like family to us. You won't be disappointed.

This restaurant is in town. Owned by friends, we love it here! The food is delicious, it overlooks the sea and has a great happy hour too. Miami meets Costa Rica, enjoy the fabulous music and service at this great Puerto Viejo location.

Do you like Chocolate? I do ..... visit Cho.co in Puerto Viejo to experience, taste and learn about the amazing Chocolate artisans that create in our area. I love the "tasting". You can have a wonderful, educational tasting paired with coffee, beer, wine or local rum! The chocolate selection make a great gift too.

Get up early, walk along Playa Negra from the house into Puerto Viejo (15 - 20 mins.) and reward yourself with a delicious breakfast or lunch at the spectacular Bread & Chocolate. I love the fresh lemonade with ginger, their french press coffee and their creamy eggs with fried potatoes (get the jerk sauce on the side - it's great on the potatoes).

Another great place for lunch. It's between Puerto Viejo and Manzanillo but it's worth the drive (bus or taxi ride). There is also an amazing pizza place right beside it but I don't remember the name. Check it out too.

My favourite caribbean style restaurant. It's simple but delicious. My favourite is the snapper with plantain and rice and beans.

Sightseeing
A great park to visit. South of Puerto Viejo is Manzanillo. Their Reserve is wonderful to hike, beautiful beaches, lots to see. If you need a guide let us know and we will put you in touch with our friend and National Tour Guide, Abel. He will happily teach you about birds, insects, flora, fauna, animals and so much more. He's a master spotter of everything in the jungle so you are guaranteed to see lots hiking with him.

Manzanillo
A great park to visit. South of Puerto Viejo is Manzanillo. Their Reserve is wonderful to hike, beautiful beaches, lots to see. If you need a guide let us know and we will put you in touch with our friend and National Tour Guide, Abel. He will happily teach you about birds, insects, flora, fauna, animals and so much more. Be sure to visit the Ara Project in Manzanillo. It's at 3 pm, $20.00 per person. You have to go online and make a reservation. They are working at reintegrating the McCaws back into the wild and at 3 pm you get a little tour and to watch the McCaws fly in to be fed. It's really spectacular and the Ara Project is doing a great job so it all goes to a great cause.

The tour is thorough and you will see Howler Monkeys, White faced monkeys, deer, birds, insects, snakes, sloths and so much more. A great way to learn about the animals in Costa Rica and give to a great local cause as well. I go every single time I'm down as I never get enough.

Ok, I'm slightly addicted to Luna May. She's a local designer who creates her own fabrics and clothing designs. I have too many dresses from this shop as well as flow pants, tops, jackets and jewellery. If you want beautiful colours, unique fabric and amazing designs visit Luna May for sure.

Punta Uva was just voted one of the top 10 beaches in the World. We know why! It's on a sheltered bay so the waves are usually not a problem. It's great for snorkelling, SUP, Kayaking and exploring. Walk, swim, tan ..... its lovely.
