Sightseeing

This waterfall area is about 25 minutes from the house. The half mile hike in from the road is gentle and well-worn. Water has carved out slides in the granite rock. A popular spot on a hot day, you'll want to be careful; it's fun, but granite can be slippery and is very hard

Another place to cool off on a hot summer day. Coos Canyon, easily accessible from the road, offers cooling river pools and some beautiful solid rock erosion.

Food scene

Food here is about presentation and taste. It is not your typical Maine dining experience in which the idea is to fill up with large portions. Currently (summer 2021), Brian's requires reservations, which are easy to make. We called the day before for a Thursday reservation and were accommodated. Brian's is NOT inexpensive.
