A completely underrated open-air museum featuring traditional houses from all over Switzerland. The buildings are all original and have been disassembled and reassembled stone by stone in Ballenberg to preserve them for future generations. I strongly recommend a visit there.

The place where Sherlock Holmes plunged to his death in the Reichenbach falls after a struggle with his archenemy Moriarty only to be resurrected by Arthur Conan Doyle after much pressure from his fans. "In 1903, Conan Doyle wrote "The Adventure of the Empty House"; set in 1894, Holmes reappears, explaining to a stunned Watson that he had faked his death to fool his enemies." -https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sherlock_Holmes#Retirement

A medieval walled city where much of the walls still stand to this day and the site of the famous battle of Morat where Charles the Bold broke his teeth yet again against the equally famous Swiss "Gewalthaufen".

A lovely medieval town very much worth a visit. A word of advice: Saint-Ursanne was one of many towns occupied during the totally messy 30 Year war. The occupying French-Swedish garrison commanded by two Scottish officers (yes, it was that messy and confusing) were so brutal towards the local population that on the month of may 1634 the townsfolk sneaked into the castle and massacred all of the soldiers save for 12. So when you go there be very nice and polite because the locals don't take kindly to jerks ;-)

A lovely old town founded by the Romans who had named it Aventicum. Many Roman ruins are still visible and there is a nice little museum with many Roman finds located in the old amphitheater which houses a replica of the famous golden bust of Marcus Aurelius the original of which was found in the old sewers of Aventicum.
