If you are looking for a good, authentic sushi place, with a Japanese chef, away from the touristic places that rip you off, this is the right one. Small and unpretentious restaurant: decor is simple and plain, but clean and bright. Be sure to come early, no reservations allowed.

A small, simple and cheap restaurant with very good dumplings. Raviolis are fantastic. Don't miss the fried aubergines! Good for the tummy and the wallet! Go in advance since the space is limited.

Many very good pizzerias around. Lauretta is our usual spot where we go with Bonnie, our dog! The very nice family that runs it also owns the friendly bar next door, Café Chéri.

Retrofoodism At Le Cadoret, we adore everything! The vintage feel, the morning coffee served at the bar, the apéros with ham & cheese croissants and craft beers, the jazzy playlists composed by Louis Fleuriot, and of course the dishes made by his sister Léa, who brightens up the everyday grind in the upper Belleville neighborhood with her good home cooking, bursting with fresh herbs and contrasting flavors.

Combat, the former pseudonym for this section of Belleville, is now the standard-bearer for successful bars. Owned and run by Elena Schmitt and Margot Lecarpentier (ex-Experimental Cocktail Club), and located between a Thai restaurant and a Chinese wholesale shop, their bar isn’t lacking any (whitewashed stonewalls, a green boudoir, a tiny terrace on the downward sloping sidewalk), and the cocktails prepared by Elise Drouet, who used to work for Experimental as well, are more than just feminist creations. Try also the coffee shop "Capitale" of the same Margot Lecarpentier (see "Food scene").

This haven of peace (Cité Leroy, Villa de l'Ermitage, Cité de l'Ermitage) has preserved a bohemian and popular spirit: small town houses, pavilions, artists' studios lined with gardens and courtyards, heterogeneous constructions full of charm. The Villa de l'Ermitage is a green confetti, memory of a disappeared neighborhood celebrated by the photographs of Willy Ronis. See also rue des Cascades.
