Food Scene

Superb breakfast pastries and quick counter-service, seat-yourself dining option. Good coffee as well. $$$ since it can be on the higher end for casual breakfast/lunch. Can be very busy at times.

People who like fancy coffee will be in heaven here. They have all the yuppie standard options of gluten free vegan whatever organic non GMO farm to table jibber jabber you could ever desire. Nice outdoor seating area. (I am not a fancy coffee person.)

Amazing New American-inspired Japanese. $$$$. Reservations advised. Not for those who think "California roll" is authentic sushi.

Cheap, greasy, delicious Tex-Mex. Great margaritas, many flavors, many styles. Love the rotating drink menu. Yes, this place is a chain, but that doesn't make it any less good.

The best donuts in Houston, arguably the United States. A Houston original, Shipley's now has over 600 locations in like 6 or 7 states. But Houston is home to Shipley's!

Your local speak-easy style bar at the end of the street from Dunlavy House! Walk to the end of the street, find the parking lot. You'll see a blue door on what looks like the back side of a strip mall. Go through the blue door and your bar awaits. Drinks are fine and average priced, but the moody dark ambiance is what you're going for. $$.

I guarantee you you’ve never been to a store this good and this crazy. Stretching multiple blocks over a variety of buildings ranging from strip malls to pre-war houses this is a Houston oddity. Prepare to leave with things you didn’t come to buy.

One of the largest luxury shopping malls in the United States. On a rainy or boring day you could get lost the entire afternoon here. Or go ice skating in the skating rink. Or blow €3000 on a new Gucci purse. Live your life!
