IF you're up to driving into Bend..... your day will not be complete unless you stop in at The Sparrow Bakery "1st thing in the morning" and ask for an "Ocean Roll" -- they run out early, so it's true what they say about 'the early bird gets the.....Ocean Roll'

Parks & Nature

I cannot recommend this place enough....in my opinion, it's a MUST SEE!! People travel around the world to climb rock out at Smith Rock State Park. You can hike along the river as an easy, relaxing hike or, for the more adventurous, I encourage everyone to put on their hiking boots and hike up "Misery Ridge!" It's aptly named, as it is misery hiking UP but the views at the top are SO worth it -- you'll thank me once you're there! Once at the top of Misery Ridge, it's really worth it to hike along the back side so you can get a close up view of "Monkey Face" which is a tall rock that is famous out here that the rock climbers love to climb; if you're lucky, you'll see climbers on it. The view is breath-taking around every turn, but you will need shoes with good traction, otherwise, it's not fun as you could easily slip and fall as some of the trails going down the back side are quite steep.
