Go on a Tuesday or Thursday night to hear live gypsy jazz - it's wonderful! If you're a fan of the film Triplets of Belleville you will recognize some of this music. Best to make a reservation.

The food is great here, so is the atmosphere and they have a lovely garden you can dine in - really nice! Also, they often have live music - check the schedule.

Great italian food with modern sensibilities. This was the first time I ever had anchovies (fresh and delicious!) with butter (local) and the most amazing fresh bread. Ok, a little decadent but great eating experience.

Next to Renato's Pizza Master is Renato's the italian restaurant...older style american italian at a very good quality. This restaurant has no signage from the front on Central Avenue, but you can access it by going through the side door (left side of Pizza Master), or through the back from Cambridge Avenue (look for their small parking lot - they do have a sign on the back).

Local Parks

A wonderful oasis spanning between West Side Avenue and the Hackensack River. There is a nature walk near the river (Lincoln Park West) - part of the wetlands restoration project - and a community golf course. Lincoln Park East has running trails and wide bike lanes on the road that goes around the park, also a drop-dead gorgeous, elegant, and recently restored fountain as centerpiece on entering the park from West Side Avenue. There is a lovely pond you can walk around, or sit next to on one of the benches.

This park sits right on top of the famous cliff structure known as the palisade that starts here in Jersey City and goes many miles north along the Hudson River. The views of Hoboken and NYC are spectacular! The surrounding area along Ogden Ave has some lovely homes - a nice street to walk along. There is a farmers market in the park on Sundays during the season. Check out their website here: http://www.riverviewfarmersmarket.org/
