Piazza dell’ Orologio è una piazza molto caratteristica e suggestiva che si trova nel centro di Roma, tra Via dei Banchi Nuovi e Via del Governo Vecchio, nel rione Ponte. Piazza dell’ Orologio si contraddistingue per la presenza del Convento dei Filippini con la sua torre dalla quale svetta il grande orologio centrale, che dà il nome alla Piazza. Si tratta di una torre leggermente concava costruita da Francesco Borromini tra il 1647 e il 1648 e collocata sopra il convento dei Filippini, gli oratoriani di San Filippo Neri, a pochi passi dalla chiesa di Santa Maria in Vallicella anche conosciuta come la Chiesa Nuova. Sulla facciata esterna della torre, posto sotto il quadrante dell’ orologio è presente il mosaico della Vergine, raffigurante la “Madonna della Vallicella“, che viene attribuito a Pietro da Cortona.

Only 290 meters from our apartment. Very authentic, not a "touristic" restaurant, the cuisine is a mix of traditional Roman with a modern twist! Favorite of the local residents and famous politicians... Let us know if you would like to make reservations (day and time) or ask for "Renato" the owner and say you are staying at our apartment and he will take special care of you. Prices are slightly higher than in other restaurants but definitely worth it!
