One of my favorite restaurants in Nairobi. Nyama Mama has a lovely rustic modern design, a creative menu that blends western and East African palates and its a great place to people watch!

This lovely indoor/outdoor bar-live music-entertainment venue is one of the most interesting places to visit in Nairobi. At The Alchemist you'll get a peak into Nairobi's creative scene while catching a great live music or DJ set. They often have game and family days on Sundays.

For the best consistent live music set in Nairobi visit Jay's on a thursday night ... and it's Free! Abdi Rasheed does an amazing job at curating "Thursday Night Live" at Jay's. He gets diverse acts from across the continent that range from soul, traditional African, reggae, jazz and more. Since they've renovated the space, Jay's is a lovely place for food and drinks on any evening.

Parks & Nature

The arboretum is lovely for an afternoon stroll or a family picnic. It's also the site of the Karoga Festival which a great event for all family members to get a taste of the local art, culture and music scene.

I've been told it's the largest forest within a city on the continent of Africa. Regardless, its a beautiful place to take a walk, play a couple of sets of tennis, rent a bike, visit the waterfall or dine at the upscale River Cafe, which is within the park. After two hours in Karura you'll definitely feel rejuvenated.
