If you need some caffeine, look no further than across the street, where they serve Illy coffee drinks. I like to get a latte, a slice of their cakes, and just sit and people watch.

It's the only In-N-Out in San Francisco. If you've never been, you have to go - it's a California thing.

If you're craving Asian Fusion (and seafood), The House has a great inventive menu. It's a small, cozy restaurant, so would recommend a reservation.

The most popular brunch spot in North Beach. No reservations and really long lines, but if you get there early (8am), the wait is much shorter. Known for its Monte Cristo sandwich.

It's not really a bakery, but more of a to-go dim sum place. Gets busy around 11am, but the line moves fast. Be prepared to get yelled at by the women working behind the counter. Cash only. What I order there: Shrimp and pork shumai BBQ pork buns Pan-fried turnip cakes Chive & shrimp dumplings Shrimp dumplings Malaysian sponge cake.

Tony's is arguably the best pizza in SF - they have a variety of different coal-fired types. Instead of waiting 2 hrs to get a table, head over the Slicehouse to get slices to-go or call-in a made-to-order pizza.

It's like a Chinese Eataly. It's part high-end food court/restaurant and part market. If you like tea, they have a tea bar at the front that serves some high quality teas. In the main 'food court' area, you can get a variety of dishes, including dim sum, traditional Chinese dishes, and a great sesame soft-serve with mango shaved ice dessert. Walk-in only.

High-end at an affordable price point. I've been 3 times and it's never disappointed! For $35, you get a 3-course pre-fixe menu! And if you want, add the $10 pasta supplement, which I like to split between 2 people. Because it's so popular, advanced reservations required.

Experience the famous Cruffin - croissant + muffin. Arrive early so you don't have to wait in line too long. But oh my, the boxes are so fabulous as well.
